Colasoft MAC Scanner 1.1

Colasoft MAC Scanner is a very simple MAC address scanner. It does one thing: scans a subnet for MAC addresses. By default, the application detects and calculates your subnet by looking at your IP address. Then it recommends that subnet start a MAC address scan.

Scanning is very quick. It scanned my whole subnet and came up with five different MAC addresses in less than 10 seconds. In the options, you can set the number of scanning threads that you want the application to use. By default, it is maxed out at 100. That means that one hundred of different connections will be made to scan your subnet. You can tone that down to even a single thread to limit the number of connections.

When scanning is complete, the application will show all the IP addresses that correspond to the MAC addresses found, and, when available, it will also show the manufacturer of the ethernet device as well.

Colasoft MAC Scanner can export the results to a tab-separated TXT file. It looks organized and it is easy to copy and paste results.

There are two versions of this application, the free one and the Pro one. This review deals with the free version, which is sufficient for quick MAC scans.
